Life is not always...

As children we all have dreams of becoming a doctor, a nurse or even a firefighter. We never have dreams of becoming addicts.

In my adolescent years, I did a lot of experimenting with drugs but nothing that ever go me in real trouble. I moved on with my life, got married, had children and became a nurse.

All my dreams were shattered and one by one I began to use every drug I had within reach until I became addicted to crystal meth. My life was completely out of control. I lost my career, my family and I was on the verge of losing my freedom for good.

That’s when I came to the Stephen Center. They have taught me how to deal with life and the issues that come my way. I have gained confidence and learned how to ask for help. I’ve also learned how to accept help as well. I opened my eyes to see all the hurt and pain I caused for my loved ones and myself, but most importantly they taught me how to live a sober life by holding myself accountable for my actions.

These days life is good. I no longer feel hopeless and helpless. My children are with me once again. I’m working and I am on the road towards achieving my goals. I now know that as long as I stay sober I will accomplish my dreams.

Life is not always rainbows and butterflies, but had I not gone to the Stephen Center, I would not have the skills I need today to live life sober.
