Appreciation Picnic at the Stephen Center
A fun time was had by everyone in attendance at the Stephen Center Appreciation Picnic held on Sunday, July 12th. We were a little concerned when it got dark and windy around the start time, but thankfully everyone took cover and the food was safe under the tent. Maybe our chefs, Ric Couch and Morris Peterson didn’t fair quite as well in the brief rainstorm. They were out there trying to keep the grills lit and the burgers and hotdogs cooking. Over 350 people attended the Appreciation Picnic. This was just our way of saying thank you to the hundreds of volunteers that we have helping us every day. The Stephen Center wouldn’t be able to run without all of the countless hours logged by our dedicated volunteers. In addition to the picnic lunch, guests were able to join in several games, view videos and take tours of the HERO Program building and the Emergency Shelter. The event ran from 12 noon to 5:00pm. Of course, we couldn’t keep all our volunteers from working. Thanks to those that helped make food and answer the phone and doors during the picnic.
