Abate of Nebraska District 6 held a holiday fundraising event for Stephen Center on December 7, 2008 at the Forgot Store, 11909 Calhoun Rd. The motorcycle safety and rights group raised over $550 and contributed two van’s full of food and personal items to Stephen Center. The Little Mikes provided the entertainment. A potluck dinner began at 2:00 pm. Cathy Hynes arranged the benefit on behalf of Stephen Center. Cathy stated “We wanted to do something this holiday season to help those who are having a difficult time. Stephen Center has been serving the Omaha community for many years and we all appreciate the good work that they do for our community.” Over 100 members enjoyed the potluck dinner and great music.

Stephen Center, Inc. has served the homeless and low-income men, women and children in Omaha since 1984. Stephen Center is the only “dry” emergency shelter in Omaha, focusing on assisting those who have made a commitment to overcome the life destroying effects of drugs and alcohol.
