STEPHEN CENTER IN NEED OF TURKEYS FOR THE HOLIDAYS

The Stephen Center is experiencing a significant shortage of turkeys and very basic food items at this point in time. "Today we have 14 turkeys in our freezers compared to a hundred or more last year at the same time," Executive Director Del Bomberger said. "In addition, we have found it necessary to purchase coffee for the first time in a number of years."  Stephen Center will utilize the turkeys and hams that are donated now throughout the remainder of the holiday season.  Additionally, between the emergency shelter and the treatment program, Stephen Center uses five large cans of coffee per day.

Stephen Center food pantry is also very low for this time of year.   We encourage anyone who is able to consider providing canned and boxed goods to the shelter for use during the upcoming holidays. "We know that this is a difficult time for many families and businesses in our community and just request that if you or your business is able to help, it would be very much appreciated," Bomberger said.  "Also, with all the extra children living at Stephen Center this year, we are looking for a company to donate the labor and materials to add some electrical outlets to the roof of our two buildings so that we can light up the shelter with Christmas lights and make the kids feel more at home."
